The Arizona Army National Guard patch features authorized heraldic imagery that honors the unit's home state and defensive mission. Rendered in a subdued green and brown color palette for the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniform, this patch includes a hook-fastener backing for standard military uniform placement.
The Visual Symbols and Heraldry:
Sunburst Shield: The top segment of the heptagonal (seven-sided) shield features radiating lines modeled after the Arizona state flag, symbolizing the unit's regional identity and the Southwest.
Crossed Arrows: Two intersecting Native American arrows point downward, serving as a traditional emblem of peace and recognizing the indigenous history of the region.
The Central Bayonet: An upright combat bayonet is positioned vertically over the arrows, representing the Guard's modern military readiness, vigilance, and defensive strength.
